Q. What did the leper say to the prostitute?
A. Keep the tip.
i know this has been discussed many times, but i was watching a news story about female genital mutilation (not female circumcision) and segued mentally into why the hassle about male babies having to be circumcised, christians especially.
even the wts flipflops on this...... if adam, the first perfect man, not under the jewish law code, was given a foreskin by god as an aspect of his physical perfection, why then do so many "christian" people have their boy babies circumcised?.
if a health issue....why did god create the perfect man, adam, with a foreskin?.

somewhere in the bible it says; the wages of sin is death.. just death.
not pain or anguish or agonising illnesses.
so , why do we have to endure all of the heart-breaking torment that goes along with life?
Somewhere in the bible it says; The wages of sin is death.
Just death.
Not pain or anguish or agonising illnesses.
So , why do we have to endure all of the heart-breaking torment that goes along with life? Isn’t it enough that we simply die?
Even if we maintained good health and lived to a decent age of 70- 80 as it mentions in the bible and then died, isn’t that paying what we owe? We still lose everything. Our loved ones grieve us.
I was always told as a child that loving God would not allow people to suffer in a hell-fire after-life. So why is it ok to suffer in life?
how many in your age group are still jehovahs witnesses?
from where we are at, there aren't many left.
each year it gets smaller and smaller haha .
When I was a kid, about 6 or 7 yrs old , our cong built a new hall and the local paper featured a picture of us all standing proudly out the front. This was about 1979.
Out of approximately 20 'young ones' in that picture, I believe only 3 are still attending meetings.
for several weeks i've been treating myself to a hot chocolate milk (well, soymilk) before bedtime.
some 16 oz soymilk which i heat on high in our microwave oven.
this is just enough time where the liquid begins to bubble along the top edge.. i then take it out of the microwave and place it on my kitchen gram scale, stir it good enough to redistribute the heat, then reset the scale to zero grams.. next, i squeeze in the hershey's sytup, "special dark mildly sweet chocolate" (fat free) into the warmed soymilk till the scale reads some 30 grams.
Agree with Scully.
Has to be some loss on the spoon because you stir each time, plus a little in evaporation.
hey there.. if this point has been covered before please forgive me.. i have had the principles of noahs flood used by jw's to encourage me to attend meetings recently and this has got me musing about the flood....again.. genesis states that a river flowed from eden and branched out into four rivers, two of which being the tigris and the euphrates.. heres the baffling part; if it had never rained before, how is it that rivers existed before the flood?!!?.
a brief google search tells us that the euphrates begins its journey as snow melt and rain ( as most rivers do) in mountains in turkey.. ecc chapter 1 mentions the water cycle and describes the rivers flowing into the sea but the sea not becoming full.
how did it work pre-flood?
Pleaseresearch, I thought about rivers being spring fed and while I don't pretend to be a geologist, I can think of a few problems, especially if Genesis is to be taken literally.
The spring would have to have an enormous discharge to feed into and become 4 rivers.
Underground water is finite and without rain cannot replenish (as far as I know). So how many years before it runs out?
Assuming there were mountains before the flood, as Genesis says there was, the euphrates river would have to run uphill if it flowed OUT of eden.
Other scriptures describe the water cycle and specifically mention that rivers continuously flow into the ocean and the ocean doesn't overflow because the water keeps evaporating and is once again returned as rain. Using this biblical reasoning, it would suggest that without evaporation, spring fed rivers would overflow the oceans. An ever expanding ocean would also contradict Job (I think) that discusses the tidal boundaries.

Thx for the replies. Please assume that I am aware that scientific evidence does not support the flood account nor the general creation account.
My jw friend was guilting me into returning to the meetings and used the example of noah in that, although he had never seen it rain, he spent yrs building a giant boat to survive the mother of all rain events because of his faith. Also, once the door was closed, noone else can get in.

Genesis states that a river flowed from Eden and branched out into four rivers, two of which being the Tigris and the Euphrates.
Heres the baffling part; If it had never rained before, how is it that rivers existed before the flood?!!?
A brief google search tells us that the Euphrates begins its journey as snow melt and rain ( as most rivers do) in mountains in Turkey.
Ecc chapter 1 mentions the water cycle and describes the rivers flowing into the sea but the sea not becoming full. How did it work pre-flood? Was there a constantly filling ocean?
I had never thought about a river in Eden contradicting the rainless, pre-flood world before so I thought I would share it. Once again, sry if its been mentioned previously.
hey guys.
i was recently talking to a old friend who is a very active elder.
i was talking about ' the truth' and he suggested i sounded like an apostate because i used terms like ' the society' and ' watchtower '.. i am aware that ' dubspeak ' has changed over the years and i am pretty sure that someone posted about it here but i can't find the thread.
Thx for the replies.
He had a big problem with the term 'the society '. He actually went so far as to say I wasn't speaking the ' pure language '.
I told him it's ingrained so who cares because we both knew what I was talking about.

all through my childhood, i was told about the evils of violence (and magic) in entertainment, i doubt i could count the number of movies and video games i wasn't allowed to enjoy for that very reason.
i did always watch movies and play video games with a certain amount of violence in them, but i was careful to keep it at the teen/pg-13 rating.. in the last year or so though i've started trying out games like skyrim, fallout 3, and thief.
(since i still live with my parents i'm careful about where and when i play them.
Forgot to add. These days, instead of watching TV or a movie, a lot of people prefer to unwind by playing online games.
Instead of mindlessly watching something, you get a chance to be proactive in shaping your experience.
Its pure escapism, just like many other recreational activities.
